About MONA
MONA is a local support and social group for parents who reside in Arlington, Virginia.
A 501(c)(7) non profit organization, MONA is an inclusive community that welcomes and supports all forms of parenting. We believe that the principal reason for members to come together is their desire to seek out others with a common concern for raising children in the best possible and most healthful way. In doing so, we build a strong network and long-lasting friendships.

Our History
Established in 2001, MONA has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the basement of one of our founding member's homes. It was originally started as a chapter of the International MOMS Club , a global membership organization, which grants rights for local moms' groups to be formed (much like the National PTA), as long as you strictly follow their rules and guidance. Back then, MOMS Club required moms’ groups to be made up of stay-at-home moms and allowed a maximum membership of 100. As MOMS Club of Arlington North started to grow, primarily by word of mouth, it very quickly reached the maximum limit of 100 members. At that point, it was recommended by the parent organization, that they break up into smaller groups by individual zip codes. By then, this bunch of mamas had become good friends and they wanted to keep welcoming new members to their fold. So, as any enterprising group would do, they decided to drop the International MOMS Club brand and start their very own moms’ group and that’s how MONA, as we know it today, was born.
